Live Fish Shipping

The health and safety of our fish are our highest priority.

Shipping Schedule

  • Live fish orders are typically shipped Monday through Wednesday to minimize the risk of delays during transit.
  • Overnight shipping is a requirement to allow the least amount of time for the fish to be in transit
  • We may postpone shipments due to extreme weather conditions, holidays, or carrier disruptions.

Packaging

  • All live fish are professionally packed in insulated shipping materials designed to maintain safe temperatures during transit.
  • Heat or cold packs may be included when necessary based on weather conditions.

Delivery Requirements

  • Someone should be available to receive and inspect live fish deliveries upon arrival.
  • We strongly recommend having live fish shipments delivered to a secure location where they will not be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Live Arrival Guarantee

We offer a Live Arrival Guarantee on eligible fish shipments provided that:

  1. The package is accepted on the first delivery attempt.
  2. Any issues are reported within 2 hours of delivery.
  3. Clear photos of the unopened shipping bag and affected fish are provided.
  4. Water quality and acclimation procedures are followed appropriately.

Guarantee Exclusions

The Live Arrival Guarantee does not apply to:

  • Delayed deliveries caused by carrier errors or weather events.
  • Incorrect shipping information provided by the customer.
  • Packages left unattended for extended periods after delivery.
  • Losses occurring after successful arrival and acclimation.
  • Orders shipped during weather conditions approved by the customer against our recommendation.

Approved claims may be resolved through replacement, store credit, or refund at Ray's Tank's discretion.

Acclimation Responsibility

Customers are responsible for properly acclimating fish to their aquariums. Improper acclimation can result in stress, illness, or loss of livestock and is not covered under our guarantee.

Tips:

  1. We do not recommend drip acclimation as the fish may be in the bag for 10+ hours with pure oxygen. The extended period of time in the bag causes ammonia to rise and when the bag is opened, the biproduct of CO2 from the fish will cause the PH to rise and will make the ammonia deadlier. Possibly causing ammonia burn or ammonia poisoning.
  2. A quarantine tank is highly recommended to prevent any spread of stress related disease and/or other fish in the aquarium from causing more stress.
  3. Water testing is highly recommended to make sure PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates are all at safe levels.
  4. We recommend acclimation by allowing the fish to float in the aquarium while in the closed bag for temperature for 10-15 minutes. Check the PH in the aquarium/quarantine tank and compare to the PH in the bag. Only open the bag momentarily to get a water sample and close it back up to allow less air to get back in. PH ranges should stay with a 0.4 range within each other, so when the fish is released into the tank PH shock is a lower risk.
  5. Do not add the water from the bag into the fish tank as there will be high levels of ammonia in the water from transport.

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on:
