Acclimation Responsibility
Customers are responsible for properly acclimating fish to their aquariums. Improper acclimation can result in stress, illness, or loss of livestock and is not covered under our guarantee.
Tips:
- We do not recommend drip acclimation as the fish may be in the bag for 10+ hours with pure oxygen. The extended period of time in the bag causes ammonia to rise and when the bag is opened, the biproduct of CO2 from the fish will cause the PH to rise and will make the ammonia deadlier. Possibly causing ammonia burn or ammonia poisoning.
- A quarantine tank is highly recommended to prevent any spread of stress related disease and/or other fish in the aquarium from causing more stress.
- Water testing is highly recommended to make sure PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates are all at safe levels.
- We recommend acclimation by allowing the fish to float in the aquarium while in the closed bag for temperature for 10-15 minutes. Check the PH in the aquarium/quarantine tank and compare to the PH in the bag. Only open the bag momentarily to get a water sample and close it back up to allow less air to get back in. PH ranges should stay with a 0.4 range within each other, so when the fish is released into the tank PH shock is a lower risk.
- Do not add the water from the bag into the fish tank as there will be high levels of ammonia in the water from transport.
Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on:
- Order size and weight
- Destination
- Shipping method selected
- Special packaging requirements for live animals
